If your address has been changed, you can change it on your driving licence while renewal. While applying online for the renewal of driving licence, you can choose the change address in DL option and pay the respective fees to get a new driving licence with an updated address
How much time you have for driving licence renewal ?
- You can renew driving license within one year before its validity expires.
- After expiry, there is a 30-day grace period for renewal, for which you don’t have to pay a late fine.
- If you renew after the grace period, there will be a late fine of 1000 Rs per annum for the renewal of driving licence
- After one year of expiry, you need to take a driving re-test for renewal.
- You can not apply for renewal after 5 years of license expiry. It needs to apply for new driving licence after 5 years.

How to pay fees of renewal of driving licence ?
All services offered by RTOs are available online, including payment options. You have to pay driving licence renewal fees online while applying for DL renewal through parivahan.Here are the steps you can take to successfully pay your fees online:
- Go to the Parivahan website.
- Select “Driver’s License Related Services” from the drop-down menu
- After redirecting, select the state
- Select fee payments
- After being redirected, read the payment instructions and click Continue.
- On the next page, enter details such as your application number and date of birth.
- Select Click here to calculate charges to see more details.
- Select the bank or payment gateway to use for payment.
- Click Pay Now to complete the payment successfully.
Validity of driving licence
- Driving licence is valid for 20 years from date of issue or till the person turns 40 whichever is earlier
- After 40 years of age, it will be issued for 10 years and then 5 years subsequently.
But as per age category, the validity varies as per given below table:
