You need to apply for DL renewal through the official  &#8216;Parivahan&#8217;  portal.  The renewal process is not completely online in all states. If the contactless service is unavailable, you need to visit the RTO office after the online application. You will receive your renewed driving licence in 25-30 days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Address_change_while_renewing_driving_licence\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Address change while renewing <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">driving licence<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If your address has changed, you can update it on your driving licence when you renew it. You can choose the option  <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/itzeazy.in\/blog\/2023\/12\/21\/change-address-driving-license\/\" target=\"_blank\">address change in DL <\/a>+  driving licence renewal and pay the respective fees to get a new driving licence with an updated address. Following can be scenarios during address change on DL:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Address is same<\/strong>: if your existing licence address is same as present address, apply at same RTO.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Change in address<\/strong>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Within city<\/strong>: Apply at same RTO and add present address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Different city<\/strong>: if the city comes under different RTO, you have to apply at respective RTO with new present address<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>To other state<\/strong>: You have to apply at RTO of new state  with existing driving license details and change address to the new address<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Backlog_process_for_driving_licence_renewal\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Backlog process for driving licence renewal<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The DL renewal application process is online through Parivahan portal. That&#8217;s why it is necessary to have your licence details in Parivahan&#8217;s digital database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have an old or paper driving licence, you may not find your details on parivahan portal. In such case you should apply for backlog entry of DL data  at  th parent RTO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You need to visit the parent RTO for the backlog entry process. Once your licence details get digitalized, you can apply online for driving licence renewal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_much_time_you_have_for_DL_renewal\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">How much time you have for DL renewal&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>You can renew driving license within one year before its validity expires<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After expiry, there is a 30 days grace period for renewal without late fine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you renew after the grace period, there will be a late fine of 1000 Rs per year for the renewal of driving licence<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After one year of expiry, you need to take driving test for renewal<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can not apply for renewal after 5 years of license expiry.
