licence. It is a PVC DL with a microprocessor chip of 64 KB embedded in it. Thus, some call it a chip driving licence. It looks like your regular debit Card or a PVC Aadhaar card. The 64 KB chip stores all the details of the driver in it. It also records and stores the biometric data of the driver, like his retina scan, thumbprint, fingerprint, body markings, and blood group. A copy of this data is stored in the RTO where you applied for a smart card DL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Smart_Card_DL_has_three_sections_namely\"><\/span><strong>The Smart Card DL has three sections, namely:<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Visual Inspection Zone \u2013 It has all the personal details of the driver.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Machine Readable Zone \u2013 It has all the vehicle and licence details of the driver.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Central Motors Vehicle Zone \u2013 It contains information about past offences, traffic violations, defaults, and so on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The SCDL has so many details on its front and reverse sides as shown in the picture. The Card Size is 85.6mm x 54.02 mm, and its Thickness is 2\u20130.7 mm. The Smart Card Driving Licence is tamper-proof. So, nobody can gain unauthorized access to the sensitive information stored in it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. It is lightweight and easy to carry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. The traffic personnel can easily decode your licence details by scanning your QR code. The card will also have records of old tickets, settlement date, and disqualification period. It will improve law enforcement on roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. The transport department will have all the data of the driver. It will become useful when they need to catch repeat defaulters or offenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Smart Card Details cannot be changed. You will not get an old paperback Driving Licence anymore.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visit the RTO with the necessary documents and photo. Submit them and pay the DL fee. Submit your biometrics. Take the DL test.
