Each vehicle receives unique registration number based on state code. Tamil Nadu uses TN RTO registration system. Dealer apply for temporary registration on behalf of the vehicle owner. Submit the application to the Regional Transport Officer (RTO) or Motor Vehicle Inspector Grade I. Temporary registration is valid for 1 month only. It cannot be renewed after expiry. Vehicle owner must present vehicle for inspection. Registering authority checks the vehicle details.
