It is required when used car is bought or sold within the state. The RC must be updated at the RTO so the car is officially registered in the new owner\u2019s name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_transfer_RC_online_within_a_state_online\"><\/span>How to transfer RC online within a state online<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is how to transfer RC of car online:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>&nbsp;Go to the <a href=\"https:\/\/parivahan.gov.in\/parivahan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">parivahan.gov.in<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the online services and click on the tab of vehicle-related services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your vehicle registration number.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After that click on the RC transfer option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fill in the required details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verify using the OTP sent to your mobile number<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pay the RC transfer fee online<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download and print the payment receipt<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>After completing the online process, visit the RTO with all required documents for verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Process_of_transfer_of_RC_of_the_car_within_a_state_offline\"><\/span>Process of transfer of RC of the car within a state offline<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you prefer the offline method, RC transfer can be done in three steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 1: Sale Agreement at Notary<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The buyer and seller visit notary office to make a sale agreement. The notary writes down details like payment method and the condition of the vehicle. The seller signs the documents only after receiving full payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 2: Apply for Clearance Certificate<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All required documents are checked and submitted at the RTO. This process usually takes up to 30 days. The buyer receives the Clearance Certificate by post. There is no fee for this step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Step 3: Apply for ownership transfer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After submitting all documents, the RTO updates the RC. Fee ranges between Rs. 300 and Rs. 500 if you are not applying for smart card. If you want smart card RC, you need to pay additional fees<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_transfer_RC_of_the_car_from_one_state_to_another_state\"><\/span>How to transfer RC of the car from one state to another state<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>RC transfer of vehicle from one state to another is more complicated than transferring it within the same state. This is because the vehicle&#8217;s record have to be moved from the old RTO to the new state RTO, and the road tax must also be recalculated and adjusted. You need to transfer your RC if: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>You permanently move your car to another state<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You sell your vehicle to someone living in another state<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Process of transfer of RC of the car from one state to another state<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Apply for NOC at the original RTO where the car is registered.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After receiving the NOC, submit the required documents to the new state RTO for re registration. The RTO will issue new registration number and smart card RC.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can then apply for road tax refund from the original RTO.
