Renewal before expiry<\/span> &#8211; You can apply for a passport re-issue up to one year before your passport expires.  While applying for renewal you can choose Re-issue of Passport and select the reason Validity expired\/due to Expire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Renewal after expiry<\/span>&#8211; If your passport&#8217;s validity has already expired, you can still apply for its renewal. Passport renewal process depends on how long it\u2019s been since your passport expired. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Within 3 years &#8211; Passport renewal procedure is same as normal re-issue. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>More that 3 years &#8211; Application will be treated like fresh passport.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> In both cases, you will get new passport with new passport number and full validity (10 years for adults, 5 for minors).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"When_can_I_renew_my_passport\"><\/span>When can I renew my passport?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If your passport is due to expire, you can apply for re-issue before expiry. Register or log in to Passport Seva<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Go to the official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.passportindia.gov.in\/psp\">Passport Seva portal <\/a>and create an account if you do not already have one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you already have an account, log in with your registered credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Select \u201cRe-issue of Passport\u201d<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After logging in, select \u201cFresh Passport \/ Re-issue of Passport.\u201d Then choose \u201cRe-issue of Passport.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Select the reason that applies to your case. Options may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Passport expired or due to expire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exhaustion of passport pages<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Change in personal details<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Damaged passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lost or stolen passport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Passport Seva has separate requirements for fresh passport and re-issue applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Fill the passport re-issue application form<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enter your personal details, address and other information carefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Use the same spelling and details as your supporting documents wherever applicable. Check your present address carefully because address-related information can affect document and police verification requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Incorrect or incomplete information can cause problems during processing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Pay the passport re-issue fee<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Standard fee for adult passport renewal (re-issue) is \u20b92,500 for a 36-page booklet and \u20b93,500 for a 60-page booklet under normal processing. Book a PSK or POPSK appointment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After submitting the application and completing the payment, book an appointment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can choose an available Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Appointment slots depend on the centre and available dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Complete police verification if required<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Police verification is not required in the same way for every re-issue application.Some applications may be processed without pre-police verification. Others may require it before the passport is issued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The processing time can also vary based on whether pre-police verification is required. For eligible Tatkaal applications, police verification is done after passport issuance. However, some cases may still require pre-police verification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">9.
