You can apply for passport for your child through  Passport Seva portal. It also depends on the validity of the passport and the age of the minor. Even newborns or 1 day old babies can get passport once their birth certificate is issued. In India, every child under 18 even newborn babies must have their own separate passport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two categories of minor passports based on age:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Children below 15 years: Passport valid for 5 years.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children between 15\u201318 years: They can choose between 5 year or 10 year validity (until they turn 18).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When you apply for infant passport in India, the process is similar to other minor passport applications. But for babies below 4 years, you need to carry their passport-size photo to the PSK since biometrics cannot be captured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Do_both_parents_need_to_be_present_for_child_passport_in_India\"><\/span>Do both parents need to be present for child passport in India<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A common doubt among parents applying for infant or minor passport is whether both parents must visit the Passport Seva Kendra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, ideally both parents should be present. But if one parent cannot attend, the passport application can still continue if you submit:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Annexure D (Consent Affidavit) signed by the absent parent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Photocopies of both parents passport (if available)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This rule applies for all child passport categories, even when you apply for infant passport in India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Minor_passport_rules\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 24px;\">Minor passport rules<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the important points to know about minor passport are : <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>When you are applying for passport for kids in India, remember that each minor must have separate passport booklet. There\u2019s no option to include child\u2019s name on parent\u2019s passport. These minor passport rules apply to all children under 18<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Both parents should be present during the appointment. In case, only one of  the parents is available, they should carry both parents\u2019 passports for verification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If one of the parents resides outside India, Annexure C from the parent who is accompanying minor applicant  must be submitted with the minors passport application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is not mandatory for both parents to have a passport to apply for minor&#8217;s passport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When minor is living with parents or guardian, consent from both parents is required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Indian passport for minor consists of 36 pages booklet.
