Austria Visa for Indians

Austria is one of the twenty six European countries which are collectively called The Schengen Area. These are countries that have officially abolished all other types of border control (including passports) at their mutual borders. The area has a common visa policy and mostly functions as a single jurisdiction for international travel purposes. This common visa policy has been established by the European Union for transit through or intended stays in the territory of one or more Schengen States. These visits can be of no more than 90 days in any 180 days period. The visa policy is also for transit through the international transit areas of airports of the Schengen States.

If a person is a holder of a Schengen visa which is granted by any of the Schengen Area member country, he/she is eligible for free movement within the entire Schengen Zone, according to the specifications and validity of the visa. According to the type of visa issued by the embassy of Austria, there are different restrictions that apply to the particular visa in regard to the nature of travelling and length of stay in the country. Travellers from India who wish to visit Austria for any purpose are given the option of several types of Schengen Visas:

1.Schengen Tourist Visa- This is a short-term Visa issued to applicants who wish to visit Austria only for tourism purposes. This Visa allows the applicant to stay in Austria, or travel within the Schengen countries, for a maximum period of 90 days. Indians holding a Tourist visa are not permitted to work or engage in any business activities in the host country during the period of their stay. The tourist visit visa is valid for a period of 180 days after the date of issue and must be used within this time.

2.Schengen Business Visa As the name suggest, visitors can apply for a Schengen Business Visa if they intend to travel to Austria for commercial or business purposes. The holder of this Visa is permitted to travel to, and stay for up to 90 days in, Austria to attend a business meeting, conference, exhibition, workshop, event pertaining to international business. However, this visa does not permit visitors to work in Austria, join the country’s labour force or receive any income from the country, unless the Immigration Service has explicitly granted the holder this right. The business visa is valid for a period of 180 days after the date of issue and must be used within this time.

3.Schengen Visitor Visa Indian citizens can apply for the Schengen Visitor Visa if they plan to travel to Austria, or the Schengen Area countries, for the purpose of visiting family or friends. Obtaining this visa requires a sponsorship letter from the person who holds a residence permit of the Schengen country.

4.Schengen Student Visa

Indian travellers can apply for the Schengen Student Visa if they intend to study, perform Research & Development activities, or get educational training in Austria, for a period less than 6 months. If the traveller needs to stay in Austria for longer than 6 months for the above purposes, then they need not apply for a Visa but should apply for a residency permit.

The processing time for the Austrian visa requires approximately 15 days in a normal situation. But this period can be extended up to 30 days or more. The application process for an Austrian visa from India includes form filling and applying with required documents, as well as an interview. Itzeazy provides support in the whole application process to enable you to obtain an Austria visa conveniently and hassle-free.
