Malaysia eVisa for Indian is quick and easy to get. Its an online application platform that allows foreign nationals to apply for an electronic visa to enter Malaysia. It is valid for a period of 3 months, while the eVISA holder is entitled to stay up to a maximum of 15 or 30 days during each visit to Malaysia. You will receive your eVISA in an A4 printout format which you will have to print out accordingly. Types of Malaysia visa issued by the Malaysian government?

  • Single Entry Visa

It is granted to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia for social visit purposes such as visiting friends or relatives, tourism, etc. It is normally valid for a single entry and for a period of 3 months from the date of issuance.

  • Multiple Entry Visa

It is granted to foreign nationals who require a visa to enter Malaysia for business or government-to-government reasons. Also, individuals who continue their journey to the next destination with the same flight, are also exempt from transit visa.

  • eNTRI (Electronic Travel Registration & Information)

It is a visa waiver programme initiated by the Government of Malaysia, to attract Indian tourists. Each entry is for 15 days only and an extension of stay is not permitted.

  • VDR (Visa With Reference)

It is a visa issued by the Malaysian Representative Office abroad to a non-citizen to allow entry of individuals into Malaysia after the visa is approved by the Immigration Department Headquarters.

NOTE: eVISA is valid only for tourism purposes and If you wish to apply for a business visa or have any queries regarding a business visa, consult the High Commission, Consulate or Embassy of Malaysia nearest to you.

  • Otherwise, you may book a hotel online via any travel website that specializes in accommodations, and attach a copy of the hotel booking confirmation receipt.

Malaysia visa requirements for students

  • Soft copy of recent passport-size studio photo
  • A passport with at least 3 blank pages and a validity of more than 6 months from the travel date

  • If your VDR letter is not present in the list above, it is highly recommended that you consult your nearest High Commission, Consulate or Embassy of Malaysia.

  • eVISA for expatriates is valid only for a single journey to Malaysia for up to 30 days. They must obtain their Visa Approval Letter (VAL) before arrival and long-term pass after arrival in Malaysia.
  • Make sure that the VDR begins with ESD, MSC or RPT and the Pass Type is mentioned as “Employment Pass”.
  • If your VDR letter is not available in the list above, it is advisable to visit your nearest High Commission, Consulate or Embassy of Malaysia.

NOTE: Your application is subject to approval by the Malaysian Immigration Department or the Malaysian Mission Office. In the event of suspicion, applicants may be required to furnish further documents or be called for a face-to-face interview or Skype video chat session with the Malaysia Consulate, the Malaysia High Commission, or the Malaysian Embassy.

NOTE: Applicants might also choose to apply for a sticker visa. The fee for the sticker visa is Rs 1,000 (visa fee, in bank draft) and Rs 4,720 (processing fee). Total fee = Rs 5720. How can I make payments for the online visa application?

India citizens are permitted to make payments via credit card only. There is no provision for offline payment in India. Payment over the counter at any branch of Sunrise Bank, Nepal is allowed for payment via offline mode.

  3. Confirmed return flight ticket

What is the procedure to track online visa status?

You are advised to be alert with any email notifications from the Immigration Department, as all communication will be conducted via email.

Once the approval decision has been made, the applicant(s) can expect to receive an email notification with regard to the eVISA approval result, which may include one of the following status updates:

  • Approved- If you receive this email alert, your eVISA application has been approved
  • Rejected- This email notification would mean that your eVISA application has been declined. Contact the Immigration Department for more information and repeat the procedure for applying for a Malaysia eVisa from the beginning.
  • Request for Document- In the event that the applicant fails to upload the necessary documents in the specified format, the Malaysia Embassy or Consulate reserves the right to make requests for the said documents. The processing time will be reset to 48 hours, once the applicant has successfully uploaded the specified supporting documents. The Malaysian Embassy or Consulate are authorized to use their discretion to make requests for documents for an eVISA application more than once, until the applicant uploads the specified supporting documents in a proper manner, to the satisfaction of the authorities.
  • Request For Interview – Should the applicant encounter such email notification, it becomes mandatory for them to attend a face-to-face interview session or a Skype video chat with the Malaysian Embassy or Consulate before any decision concerning the applicant’s visa application is made. It is the applicant’s responsibility to make sure that they attend the interview session in accordance with the scheduled date and time set by the Malaysia Embassy or Consulate so that a suitable approval decision can be arrived at, as quickly as possible.
What is an Indian eNTRI Visa in Malaysia? 

The eNTRI visa waiver for Indians is a 15-day electronic travel authorization that allows Indian people to visit Malaysia. It allows Indians to return to Malaysia, although they must wait three months after their previous visit to apply for another eNTRI authorization.  Visa waiver eNTRI is only valid for one entry.
