Who can register marriage in UP?

Before you apply for marriage registration, you need to know if you are eligible or not?

• Groom is 21+ years old
• Bride is 18+ years old
• Both are unmarried/widowed/divorced
• Applying in the correct district (where bride/groom/parents live)
• You have permanent address proof (Aadhaar with correct address)
• You are not closely related by blood

Note –

You can only apply at a sub registrar office in the district where:

• The groom lives permanently, OR
• The bride lives permanently, OR
• Either partner’s parents live permanently

Documents Required for Marriage registration in UP

Gather these documents before you register your marriage in Uttar Pradesh.

For bride and groom (both need these documents):

1. Age proof (any one)

• 10th/12th mark sheet
• Birth certificate
• Passport
• Aadhaar card

2. Address proof (any one)

• Aadhaar card (with current address)
• Voter ID card
• Passport
• Ration card
• Driving license

3. Two recent passport size photographs of both bride and groom

4. Marriage proof documents

• Wedding invitation card
• Wedding photographs (ceremony photos showing bride and groom)
• Priest certificate (signed by the person who performed the ceremony)

5. Joint affidavit stating date, time, and place of marriage. Both bride and groom must sign it

6. Witness documents

• ID proof of 2 witnesses (Aadhaar or Voter ID)

• Divorce decree (if either partner was previously married and divorced)
• Death certificate (if either partner is widowed)

How to apply for Marriage Registration in UP

1. Visit the homepage of the Integrated Complaint Resolution System. 
2.  Click on the “Marriage Registration”
3.  Enter the Groom’s Aadhaar number. You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number.
4. Enter the OTP. The system will automatically fetch all the groom’s details from the Aadhaar Database, including the photo.
5. Enter the bride’s Aadhaar number. Enter the OTP sent to her registered mobile number.
6. Fill in any additional personal details of the groom that the form requires.
7. Upload the groom’s photograph and all required documents. Click “Save”.
8. Enter all the bride’s details and upload her documents. Click “Save”.
9. Enter wedding details and click on “Save” after filling in details.
10. Enter the details of two witnesses. Upload their photographs and ID proofs.
11. After entering all the details, the candidate can preview the entered details. 
12. Preview all the information you have entered.
13. If all details are correct, read the declaration and click “Submit”.
14. You will see Application Reference Number on the screen. Take screenshot for future reference.
15. Pay the marriage registration fee online using the available payment options.
16. After you submit and pay, the authorities will process your application. They will verify the details and issue your marriage certificate
