  1. Uniform Schengen Visa (USV): This is the most common visa type and allows for short-term stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period for tourism, business, or visiting family and friends.
  2. Airport Transit Visa (ATV): If you have a layover in an Italian airport but do not plan to enter the Schengen Area, you may need an ATV.

  4. National Visa (NV): Also known as a long-stay visa, this type is intended for stays exceeding 90 days and can be for various purposes, including work, study, family reunification, or joining a spouse.
  5. Schengen Visa for Official Visit: This visa is issued to individuals traveling to Italy on official government business or representing an international organization.
  6. Schengen Visa for Medical Reasons: If you need to travel to Italy for medical treatment, this visa allows you to do so.

Documents required for Italy Visa

  • A filled-out Schengen Visa Application Form
  • 2 copies of passport sized photographs adhering to these guidelines
  1. Both pictures should be recent and identical to each other.
  2. The photo should be 35 mm wide and 45 mm tall.
  3. Colored pictures, light background (white or light gray), ensuring that the clothes do not match the background.
  4. The head should cover a majority (70 to 80%) of the image.
  5. Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open, and looking directly at the camera.
  6. No red eyes, shadows, or reflections. 
  7. Taken in evenly spread brightness.
  8. The resolution of the images should be 400 dpi. 
  • Passport with a validity of a minimum of three months from the estimated date of departure from the countries in the Schengen Area. The passport should not be older than 10 years. 
  • A4 sized photocopy of the current passport’s data pages 
  • Travel and medical insurance are necessary. The insurance scheme should cover costs up to about €30,000, which is INR 26,73,642.72.
  • Itinerary of the duration of the individual’s stay in Italy
  • Evidence of accommodation and civil status
  • Evidence of financial status. Pay slips, proof of ownership of land, original bank statements extending to the previous three months, and income tax return forms. 
  • In the case of employment, a leave letter from the place of employment. In the case of self-employment, evidence of your business, such as an Indian business license and the bank statements of the company, is to be provided.
  • If the applicant is studying, the educational institution has to provide a no objection certificate. This has to be submitted alongside the applicant's proof of enrollment.

  1. Fill out the Schengen Italy Visa Application Form.
  2. Visit Italy representation office i.e. consulate general or embassy offices located in Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi 
  3. Submit the application form and documents at the office.
