Thailand Visa Types

  1. Tourist Visa: This visa is valid for 60 days that can either be a single or multiple entries. It can be extended for up to another 30 days by means of visa run. If you want to extend it up to another 30 days then you need to convert the Thailand visa to a non- immigrant visa which will require you to visit the nearby cities or countries such as Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Penang.
  2. Non- immigrant visa: This visa is valid for 90 days and consists of single entry. Like the tourist visa, you can extend your stay in Thailand by doing a visa run going to the border or nearby country/ city.
  3. One year Non- Immigration Visa: This visa is valid for 1 year and consists of multiple entries. You are allowed to stay in Thailand for 90 days per entry which means, after every 90 days, you will have to go to the border and get your visa stamped at the immigration (visa run).
  4. Marriage visa and retirement Visa: It is a bit complicated process because there is no direct application for these 2 visa types. To get a marriage visa, you must be married to a Thai Nationalist whereas to get a Retirement visa, you need to be 50 years old or above.
  5. Business visa: It is also called Non- Immigrant Business Visa. It is specially designed for people who want to do business legally in Thailand. With this visa, you can open a bank account and get a work permit. However, you need to do visa run after every 90 days.
  6. Permanent Resident Visa: To obtain this visa, you must have stayed in Thailand for three consecutive with the one- year- visa extensions. If you are single, your monthly income should be 80,000 Baht. If you are married to a Thai nationalist for 5 years, your monthly income should be at least 30,000 Baht.  At the end, to qualify for Permanent Resident Visa in Thailand, you need to present your personal tax statements of three years proving the above stated income requirements.
