The Republic of Turkey allows Indians to avail themselves of an e-visa for their travels. People who are not exempt from Turkish visas for tourist or business purposes can apply for a Turkish e-visa. Again, diplomatic passport holders are free to travel to Turkey without a visa for up to 90 days within 180 days. Indians who have ordinary, special, or service passports must have a visa to enter Turkey. Visa application and procedure may differ for truck drivers in India. Indians who wish to reside, work, or study in Turkey have to register themselves at the local Turkish police station within 1 month of their arrival, regardless of the validity of their visa. Then only can you obtain a residence permit to work, study, or reside in Turkey. Again, you don’t need a residence permit for up to 90 days if you have a valid Turkish visa. 

There is one Turkish Embassy in India, which is located in New Delhi. The Turkish Consulates General are located in Hyderabad and Mumbai. Types of Turkey Visa

There are several types of visas provided by Turkey to Indians. The visas are categorized according to the purpose of your stay in Turkey. The most popular of them is the Turkish e-visa. The other Turkish visas are as follows: -

  1. Tourist/Business Visa: tourist activities include fairs, exhibitions, sports, sightseeing, cultural and artistic activities and Transit purposes. Business activities include seminars, conferences, business meetings, official visits, and so on. 
  2. Official Visa: Official visas are assigned to Indians who are visiting Turkey on official work or duty. It may also be used for courier purposes. 
  3. Student-Education Visa: An Indian student can apply for a Turkey student visa for the following reasons:

  • AISEC or ERASMUS Internships
  • Turkish Language Course
  • Higher Education
  • Diploma

     6. Turkish e-Visa – These visas permit Indians to travel to Turkey for tourism or trade only. The Visa is valid for 180 days but you stay in Turkey for 30 days. Indians are only eligible for single-entry visa. The visa costs 43 USD. Indians with Ordinary passports can apply for e-Visa. Others need to visit the Turkish Embassy/Consulate General in India to apply for a Turkish visa. The validity of the visa starts from the date specified in the application. If you change your travel plans, you need to apply for a new e-Visa. You can apply for an e-Visa 48 hours before your trip to Turkey. You can apply for an e-Visa for yourself, a family of 10 or fewer people or a group of 30 or fewer people.

Documents required for Turkey Visa

  1. The original passport should be issued less than 10 years with a minimum validity of 6 months beyond the intended duration of stay in Turkey and at least two blank pages.  
  2. 2 photos with a white background that were taken within the last 6 months in 2.5inch x 2.5inch size.
  3. Travel insurance that at least offers a minimum coverage of Rs. 2693460.00 during your Turkey trip
  4. Confirmed to and from flight tickets
  5. Hotel reservation with the details of the applicant’s name check-in & check-out time for the entire travel in Turkey   
  6. Evidence of your financial status. Turkey requires visitors to have at least Rs. 3,178.72 per day for staying in the country.
  7. Cover letter stating your purpose of travel.
  8.  Original Last 6 months’ bank statement of personal account attested by the bank

  11. For E-Visa:  Indians wishing to enter Turkey must carry a travel document or a passport with an expiration date of at least 60 days beyond the “duration of stay” of their visa. You also need to fulfil 1, 6,7,8,9 aforementioned criteria

How To Apply

How to apply for Turkey Visa?

  1. You can apply for a Turkey e-Visa at (evisa.gov.tr).
  2. Select the country as “India” and choose your travel document.
  3. Fill out the application.
  4. Pay the fees with a debit/credit card or net banking.
  5. Download the e-Visa in the final step after the application is complete.
  6. The link to download the e-Visa will also be emailed.

You can fill out the visa form. If you are not eligible for a Turkish e-Visa, visit your nearest Turkish consulate/embassy to obtain a valid Turkish visa.

  1. Schedule an appointment with the Turkish Consulate or Embassy.
  2. Fill out the form and gather the documents.
  3. Visit the Embassy on the appointed day.
  4. Verify the documents, pay the fees, and answer any questions asked by the officials.
  5. When the visa is processed and approved, you will be notified by email or SMS.
