Vietnam visa types

• Tourist visa:

Vietnam tourist Visa is issued to those who are visiting Vietnam only for the purpose of tourism, not for doing any work or business in the country.  Depending on the validity and number of entries, Vietnam tourist visa can be divided into:

1. 1-month single entry visa;
2. 1-month multiple entry visa;
3. 3-months single entry visa; and
4. 3-months multiple entry visa

There are mainly three ways to get a Vietnam tourist visa, which are:

1. Getting a Vietnam visa on arrival (VOA);
2. Getting a Vietnam embassy visa;
3. Getting a Vietnam e-visa 

• Business visa: It is the second most popular visa type and is categorized into:

1. DN1 visa: This visa is granted to foreigners who work with other businesses and organisations with a legal status in accordance with the laws of Vietnam. 
2. N2 visa: This visa is granted to foreigners who come to Vietnam to offer various services, perform other activities or establish a commercial presence under the international treaties to which Vietnam is a member.

Depending on the validity and number of entries, Vietnam business visa can be divided into:

1. 1-month single entry visa;
2. 1-month multiple entry visa;
3. 3-months single entry visa; and
4. 3-months multiple entry visa

There are two ways to get a Vietnam business visa, which are:

1. Getting a Vietnam visa on arrival (VOA)
2. Getting a Vietnam embassy visa 

• Student visa:

A student visa for Vietnam is issued to those who are attending a university course in Vietnam. This type of visa can be applied for after arriving in Vietnam. You can enter Vietnam with a tourist visa and then apply for change in visa at the Immigration Office after enrolling in the course. 

• Working visa-

Vietnam working visa is issued to those who come to work in Vietnam, like teaching, etc. It can be categorised into:

1. LD 1- This visa is granted to foreigners who come to work in Vietnam with a work permit exemption certificate, unless otherwise provided for in international treaties to which Vietnam is a member. 
2. LD 2- This visa is granted to foreigners who have work permit Vietnam to work. 

This visa is valid for maximum 2 years. In case you wish to stay in Vietnam for longer time, you need to apply for an LD temporary residence card which is valid up to 2 years. 

• Investor visa:

A Vietnam investor visa is a type of visa granted to foreign investors in Vietnam. It is classified into:

1. DT 1
2. DT 2
3. DT 3
4. DT 4

• Diplomatic visa:

1. A Vietnam diplomatic visa is valid for up to 12 months .there is no fee required for a diplomatic visa unless it has been decided by the home country and Vietnam ministers. This visa is granted to:
2. Members of a delegation visiting Vietnam at the invitation of the Vietnam ministers or high ranked government officials
3. Consulate personnel in Vietnam 
4. Those who go for the work with consulate members or visit them for a short period
