Types of Passport in India

There are actually two types of passports the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India allow.

  • Ordinary passport

Online Passport Payment in India

You can pay passport application fees for the services online. All you have to do is go to the official website of passportindia.gov.in and follow these steps.

  • To pay passport price in India Register or log in using your credentials.
  • Follow the instructions and fill in the required information.
  • Upload the required documents
  • Then the passport fees payment option will show. Follow the instructions and pay using any of the given options.
  • After successful payment, print the receipt.
  • You can track your application status using the Track my application link.
  • If you choose the challan option, go to your nearest SBI branch and pay the amount and collect the receipt.

Do I have to pay extra charges through the e-Mode passport fees payment option?

A: If you use a Debit or Credit card, there is a 1.5% service tax for using that particular bank service. But if you pay through SBI challan, there is no extra fee, only the passport fees or services fees are deducted.

What will happen if an error occurs after I reach the payment gateway?

A: If the bank server is down, this type of error may occur. Don’t worry, just try sometime later and it will be fine.

I have completed the passport fees payment process. However, the Payment Status remains “Pending” on the official PSK website. What should I do?

A: You should recheck the status on the next working day. If the issue continues after 2-3 days, you can contact them using the helpdesk.

I have finished the payment procedure. And, the amount has been deducted from my account, but the Payment Status is “Failed.” What should I do?

A: Don’t worry the amount will be credited to your bank account within 7 working days. A: Only SBI or State Bank of India branches accept challan deposits for this purpose.

If I pay the passport fees through the Challan payment option, what extra amount will I have to pay?

A: Nothing. There is no extra deduction or service charge if you pay through the challan payment gateway. You only need to pay the required fees for that particular passport service.

When should I deposit the payment for passport services through the challan at the SBI branch?

A: The challan amount should be deposited at your nearest SBI branch in cash, after 3 hours(minimum) of generating the challan.

What is the deadline or last date of depositing the passport fee through challan at the SBI branch?
