RTO AP or RTO Andhra Pradesh is responsible for traffic laws, road tax collection, driving licence issuance, vehicle registration, and other related services like as transfer of ownership of vehicle, HP addition/termination of vehicle, vehicle NOC, and so on. RTO Andhra Pradesh

There are 31 RTOs in Andhra Pradesh apart from District Transport Offices, Commissioner’s office, Motor Vehicles Inspector Offices, Check posts. AP RTOs were established in accordance with Section 213, Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 and the Andhra Motor Vehicles Taxation Act of 1963. AP RTOs along with the other road institutions was established with the goal of “ensuring safe, secure, pollution-free road transport in Andhra Pradesh.” The RTO AP  are headed by Transport Commissioner who is the Head of the Transport Department of Andhra Pradesh. It open from 10 am to 5.30 pm from Monday till Saturday.

The official website of AP RTA Citizen app is RTA Citizen APP (epragathi.org). This app provides all one-platform for all RTO services online. You can easily get following services with this portal

1. Apply for Permanent DL or Learner’s License
2. Renew your RC and
3. Check status of your application .

With this portal, you need not visit or contact the nearest AP RTO for your driving-related or vehicle-related queries.

Functions of AP RTO

According to the Citizen’s Charter of Transport Department , AP RTOs aim to provide citizens with friendly, transparent and fast services for vehicles. The following list elaborates the key roles of AP RTOs:-

Issuing various certificates and permits such as:

1. Registration Certificate
2. Pollution Under Control Certificate
3. No Objection Certificate
4. Transfer of Ownership
5. Permanent Driving Licence
6. Learner’s Licence
7. Trade Certificate
8. Special Goods Permit
9. International Driving Licence
10. Fitness Certificate
11. Conductor’s Licence
12. Temporary RC
13. Goods Carriage Permit

Fees charged by AP RTOs for their services

New Registration Certificate and its renewal

• Motor Cycle – Rs. 300
• Invalid Carriage – Rs. 50
• Others:

1. Light Motor Vehicles and Three Wheelers – Rs. 600 
2. Heavy goods/passenger vehicle – Rs. 1500
3. Medium passenger/goods vehicle – Rs. 1000
4. Imported motor vehicle (2/3 wheelers) – Rs. 2500
5. Imported motor vehicle (4 or more wheelers) – Rs. 5000
6. Vehicle not mentioned in this list:  Rs. 3000

Trade Certificate

• Motor Cycle – Rs. 300
• Invalid Carriage – Rs. 300
• Others – Rs 500
• Permanent DL – Rs 200 ; Renewal costs Rs 200
• Learner’s Licence – Rs 150
• International Driving Permit – Rs 1000

Conducting Vehicle inspection for Fitness Test Certificate

1. Motor Cycle – Rs 200(Manual)/ Rs 400 (Automated)
2. Light Motor vehicles – Rs 400(Manual)/ Rs. 600 (Automated)
3. Medium and Heavy Vehicles – Rs. 600(Manual)/ Rs. 1000 (Automated)

Other services

1. Smart Card application for Permanent DL and RC is Rs 200/-
2. Delay in renewing RC will cost Rs. 300/month
3. Transfer of ownership costs half the RC charges mentioned above for each class of vehicle.
4. Duplicate RC costs half the RC charges mentioned above for each class of vehicle.
5. Renewing and fresh fitness certificate costs Rs 200.

1. Motor Cycle – Rs 500
2. Light Motor vehicles/3 wheelers – Rs 1500(Manual)
3. Medium and Heavy Vehicles – Rs. 3000
4. Stage Carriage Permits – Rs. 5000
