Confused about where to schedule an Italy visa appointment for the submission of a visa application? Indians have to submit their Italy visa applications at the VFS visa application centers in India. Thus, it is necessary to book an Italy visa appointment online to visit the respective application centers. Before starting visa application process, you should know how to schedule an Italy visa appointment in India and to which visa application center as per jurisdiction.

Indians can apply either for an Italy Schengen visa for a short-term visit of up to 90 days or an Italy National visa for more than 90 days of stay. Indians have to visit VFS visa application centers for both Schengen visas as well as national visas to submit a form along with documents. But you are not allowed to visit the visa centers without an appointment. After filling out the form either online for Schengen or offline for a national visa, you need to book an Italy visa appointment online for its submission at the visa center.

Depending on the duration of your stay and purpose, you can choose the type of Italy visa for Indian and start the process accordingly. There are basically two types of Italian visas for Indians. They are as follows:

Visa types and their travel purposes 

1. Italy Schengen visa: You can apply for short term visit (90 days) for tourism and business purposes, medical treatment, sports and religious activities, education, self-employment and so on.
2. National visa: You can apply mainly for family visits, study, employment, tourism and educational purposes.

How to book Italy visa appointment ?

After choosing the right type of Italy visa depending on the duration and purpose of your travel, you have to fill out the visa form. You can visit the VFS official website and find the form for an Italy Schengen visa or national visa. Fill it out on a printed form and submit it to the VFS visa application center. Also, you can fill out an application form online for Schengen visas on the VFS website with payment of fees. After these steps, you have to schedule an Italy visa appointment for the visa application center as per consulate jurisdiction.

Following are the steps for booking Italy visa appointment India

1. Go to Login | VFS Global.
2. Click on “I don’t have an account”.
3. Enter your details and you will receive a confirmation mail in your mailbox.
4. Click on “Activate my Account” in your mailbox.
5. Login in with your email and password.
6. Enter your details and upload the documents.
7. Schedule your desired date and time for the appointment for VFS visa application center and preview your details.
8. Pay your visa fees.
9. Download and print the acknowledgement receipt with the appointment details.

Visit respective VFS visa application center with application form and documents on appointment date. All documents that have to be submitted at the Embassy or VAC has to be submitted in English language. You must submit the original and photocopies of all your required documents. All the documents must be up-to-date.  

Note: For national visa or offline visa form filling process, you can pay Italy visa fees at the time of appointment at application center.

Points to remember before you schedule an Italy Visa appointment

1. You can reschedule your appointment twice at VFS Global.
2. You can pay the service charges of 631 INR by cash, NEFT or a demand draft in favor of “VFS Global Services Pvt. Ltd” at the VFS Visa application centres while appointment
3. You need to pay service fees for booking an appointment at VFS Global PVT Limited. You can avail and choose amongst various premium services like Courier fees and assurance, premium lounge, visa form fill up assistance, SMS updates of visa while booking an appointment at the VFS Global website. Please note that all premium services are chargeable.  
4. You can reschedule or cancel your appointment at the VFS by logging in to your account.

Where to book Italy visa appointment?

You can apply for National Visa at the Embassy of Italy in India. You can go to the nearest VFS Visa Application Centre to submit Schengen Visa application. VFS Global Private Limited is the official partner of the Government of Italy. The jurisdictions of the various Consulate Generals/ Embassy of Italy in India are as follows:-

1. The Embassy of Italy in New Delhi accepts visa applications for Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Chandigarh.

3. The Consulate General of Italy in Kolkata accepts visa applications for North and Eastern regions of India as well as Nepal. VFS Visa Application Centers are in areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Kolkata are Kolkata, Guwahati and Kathmandu.
4. The Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai accepts visa applications for Southern and Western regions of India. VFS Visa Application Centers are in areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Mumbai are Ahmedabad, Pune, Goa, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Kathmandu.

VFS Application Centers of Jaipur, Chandigarh and Jalandhar are not operational currently.

Italy visa processing time 

The average processing time for Type C is 15 calendar days. Type D visa take longer time because it needs careful consideration. You can only apply for an Italian visa 3 months prior to your trip to Italy. The peak month for visa applications is July, and therefore it might delay your visa application.
