Can I apply directly at RPO Delhi?
No. Walk-in visits are not allowed at RPO Delhi. If you need to visit RPO Delhi for an enquiry, you must book Enquiry Appointment online first. Carry your appointment confirmation slip when you visit. If RPO Delhi has issued an official summons letter, carry that letter with you as instructed. For routine passport applications, visit your assigned PSK or POPSK instead of RPO Delhi.
What Should I Do If Passport Application Is Delayed?
If your passport application is delayed after your PSK appointment, first check your application status on Passport Seva Portal. You can track your application using your 15-digit File Number and date of birth.
Next steps depend on your current application status.
1. Passport Application Is Under Review at RPO Delhi
If your status shows that your passport application is under review at Regional Passport Office, your file is being processed at RPO level.
Status alone does not confirm why processing is taking longer. Possible reasons can include document verification, police verification, or further review of your application.
What to do:
- Check your latest application status and any remarks.
- Do not visit your previous PSK unless Passport Seva asks you to do so.
- If your case requires RPO enquiry, book an Enquiry Appointment before visiting RPO Delhi.
- Carry your appointment confirmation and relevant application documents.
Walk-in visits are not allowed at RPO Delhi.
2. Police Verification Report Is Awaited
If your status shows that your Police Verification Report (PVR) is awaited or pending, processing may depend on completion of police verification.
What to do:
- Check whether police verification has been initiated.
- Contact the police station or Passport Cell handling your verification if required.
- Keep your File Number and address documents ready.
- Check Passport Seva status again after verification is completed.
Do not assume that visiting RPO will speed up police verification. Follow instructions given by Passport Seva or the police verification authority handling your case.
3. Adverse Police Verification Report
If Passport Seva shows an adverse police verification report, check the remarks linked to your application.
An adverse report can require further clarification or action before passport processing can continue.
What to do:
- Check your application status for available remarks or instructions.
- Contact the concerned police authority if clarification is required.
- If Passport Seva asks you to visit RPO Delhi, book Enquiry Appointment first.
- Carry your File Number, previous application documents, and relevant address or identity documents.
Do not submit unrelated documents unless they are relevant to your case or requested by Passport Seva.
4. What to do if passport is delayed for long time?
If your application remains pending for an extended period, use official Passport Seva grievance channels.
You can register a grievance through Passport Seva or contact National Passport Call Centre at 1800-258-1800.
If your grievance requires RPO Delhi intervention, follow the appointment instructions provided by Passport Seva.
