There are  many ways to link mobile number with Aadhar card  which are given as:

  1. Online Process for Linking Mobile Number to Aadhar

                (A ) Using  Indian Postal Service website
  1. Go to IndiaPost:Service Request (cept.gov.in)
  2. Enter all the details and choose ‘PPB- Aadhaar Service’ from the “Service” drop-down menu
  3. Select the “UIDAI-Mobile/Email to Aadhaar linking/update” option.
  4. After you have filled in the necessary details and made the appropriate selections, click the ‘Request OTP’.
  5. Enter the OTP you received on your registered phone number.
  6. Click on the ‘Confirm Service Request’ button. You will receive a Reference Number.
  7. After successful submission, the request will be sent to your nearest post office.
  8. An officer will visit your house and carry out the verification process with a mobile biometric device
  9. After completing the update/linking process, s/he will charge you a fee for the service.
               (B) Using Your Telecom Operator’s Website
  1. Visit the official website of the telecom operator to which your SIM card belongs.
  2. Enter your mobile number which has to be linked to your Aadhar.
  3. Enter the OTP you received on your registered phone number and click on the Submit button.
  4. You will receive a consent message. Confirm it and proceed. Enter your Aadhaar number carefully which has to be linked.
  5. A request to the UIDAI for OTP generation by your telecom operator.
  6. Next, a consent message from UIDAI about the e-KYC details will be received.
  7. Read it thoroughly and then verify it.
  8. Accept all terms and conditions and enter the OTP you received from UIDAI.
  9. You will receive a confirmation message about linking your Aadhaar number and mobile number for re-verification.

             2. Offline Process for Linking Mobile Number to Aadhar

             (A) Linking Aadhar with Mobile Number by SMS

You can also link your Aadhaar with a mobile number by visiting your nearest store.

  1. Visit the nearest store of the telecom operator to which your SIM card belongs with a self-attested copy of your aadhar card.
  2. Give the store executive your correct mobile number and a copy of aadhar card.
  3. You will receive a 4-digit OTP after they use their verification software to link your number with aadhar.
  4. Submit the OTP to the store executive and give them your biometrics.
  5. You will get a confirmation SMS after 24 hours.
  6. Respond ‘Y to the confirmation SMS and your e-KYC will be complete.
              (B) Linking Through IVR

IVR is acronym for Interactive Voice Response. Anyone with a postpaid/prepaid number can link their Aadhaar with their mobile number by the following steps.

  1. Dial the toll-free number 14546 on your phone.
  2. You have to verify whether you are an Indian or an NRI.
  3. If you are an Indian citizen, press 1 to re-verify your Aadhaar.
  4. Enter your 12-digit unique Aadhaar number. The system will repeat the last 4 digits of your aadhar number. Listen carefully and press 1 to confirm.
  5. The system will ask you to enter your mobile number registered with your Aadhaar card. UDAI will send you an OTP.
  6. The telecom operator will ask for consent to access personal details such as name, date of birth, and photo from the UIDAI storehouse of information by displaying a consent form on your phone. Confirm it and proceed.
  7. Enter the OTP you received on your phone and lastly, press 1 to finish the verification process.
               (C) Linking Through an Aadhar Enrolment Centre

You can link your Aadhaar card with your mobile number by visiting the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment/Update Centre. You can locate the nearest Aadhaar enrolment/update Centre on website

  1. Mention your mobile number in the Aadhaar Enrolment Form if you are new to the UIDAI and want to register your mobile number with your Aadhaar. Again, you can fill out the Aadhaar Correction Form if you did not register your number earlier or changed your mobile number.
  2. Submit the relevant Aadhar application form, give your biometrics for authentication and make the payment at the Aadhar Seva Kendra.
  3. An acknowledgement slip containing the URN will be given to you by the executive. A URN is used to track the status of your Aadhaar update.
