4. The Embassy of Japan or Consulate generals of Japan are not responsible for any enquires for the processing time, visa application status, or complaints for transit visa.
5. Your transit visa application will only be entertained by the Embassy in Japan or the Consulate Generals on humanitarian grounds like death, marriage, divorce.

Japan Shore Pass

Japan Shore Pass is a visa on arrival transit visa which is valid for 72 hours. It is issued upon your arrival by the airline company if your connecting flight to your destination is not in the next 72 hours.  Please note that Indians are not eligible for this Shore Pass. How to apply for Japan Transit Visa for Indian?

The Embassy of Japan or the Consulate Generals of Japan in India do not accept any visa applications except diplomatic or official visas. VFS Global is the official partner of the Embassy of Japan in India. You need to apply through VFS Japan.

1. Go to the VFS Global official website.
2. Click on Apply for a visa tab. Book an appointment with your nearest VFS Centre by call or email.
3. Gather all the required documents mentioned in the above list.
4. Arrive at the scheduled date of the appointment with your documents and filled-up visa application. Visa application form.

6. Pay the visa application fees and the VFS service charges.

2. Please note that you need to pay extra charges to the VFS too. The service charges are Rs. 650 per application. Visa service charges are not taken for applicants who are exempted from Japan visa fees.
3. You may get refund only if the visa application is rejected or cancelled by the Embassy of Japan.
4. The Xerox charges are Rs. 2 per page and photo booth charges are 150 per applicant respectively at VFS Global.  

Japan Transit Visa Requirements

The following documents are required to apply for Japan Transit Visa for Indian:-

1. The original Indian passport, which is valid for the next 3 months from the date of arrival in Japan.
2. The duly filled-up and signed Transit Visa Application form.
3. Original cover letter attested by the applicant.
4. Travel Itinerary
5. Confirmed flight tickets to your destination.
6. A copy of your visa of your destination country. You do not require the Photocopy if you are exempted from visa to enter your destination country.
7. The records of your bank statements.
8. One Photograph of 35mmx45mm, as shown in the picture. The other photo specifications are:

• 1. The photo should not be more than 6 months old and must be printed on good quality paper.
  2. The background of the coloured photo must be white and neat.
  3. You must directly face the camera and your face must be visible properly.

Japan Transit Visa Processing time for Indian

• The processing time of Japan transit visa is 6 days excluding the day you submit your application.
• The Consulate General and Embassy of Japan mention that it will take a minimum of 4–5 days until you receive your passport after you submit your visa application. For example, if you submit your transit visa application on Wednesday, you are likely to receive it on the next Wednesday.
• Transit visa application may be delayed according to the contents and urgency of your case. You may have to submit additional documents which might delay your Japan transit visa application.
