Indian can submit their Schengen Visa application at VFS Global Visa Application Centres. The National Visa applications are handled partly by VFS too. You need to gather the documents as per the concerned visa checklist. Thereafter, download the German visa form and fill it up. Book an appointment with the nearest VFS VAC.
On the day of appointment, submit your visa form and documentation along with your biometrics .You need to pay the Germany visa fees at the time of appointment.
The German Visa needs around 15 days for processing. You will get a notification after your visa is approved by German Embassy/Consulate.

The German Missions in India accepts demands drafts from all nationalized banks of India. The drafts must not be older than 2 months.
German visa fee waiver
The following Indians do not need to pay Germany visa fees:-
- Children under the age of 6 years.
- School pupils, undergraduates, postgraduates and accompanying teaching staff going for educational trips
- NGO Representatives under 25 years or less participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events.
- Replacement of an old valid visa that has no pages with a new visa for the travel document.
The following Indians do not need to pay National visa fees:-
- Indians who received a scholarship from public funds during their stay in Germany. It also applies to the spouse or partner and minor children as long as they are covered by the scholarship funds.
- Members of the German diplomatic missions, consular posts and international organizations. It also covers their spouse and children up to and including the age of 25.

It takes 15 days for processing a Germany Schengen visa. It might take several months for the processing of work permit and National Visa. So, Indians have to apply at least 6 months before their travel date.
