Vehicle Registration in Goa

If you buy a new vehicle in Goa, you must register it with the RTO. This is required by law and helps keep track of vehicles on the road.

1. Temporary Registration

  • When you buy a new vehicle, the dealer gives you a temporary registration.
  • This is valid for 7 days, and can be extended up to 30 days for private (non-transport) vehicles.
  • It allows you to drive the vehicle home and prepare for permanent registration.
  • The dealer usually applies for this using Form C.R. Tem A.

2. Permanent Registration

  • You must apply for permanent registration within 7 days of getting the vehicle.
  • Driving without registration is illegal.
  • Once registered, you get:
    • A unique registration number (like GA-01 AB 1234)
    • RC valid for 15 years, renewable every 5 years after that

3. How to Apply

You can register the vehicle online or offline. Most dealers handle the process using Form 20 via the Vahan portal. How you can do-It-Yourself:

  1. Visit the Parivahan Sewa website
  2. Select Goa and your RTO
  3. Fill out the form, upload documents, and pay the fees
  4. Book a slot for vehicle inspection at the RTO
  5. Take your vehicle to the RTO on the booked date
  6. Officials will verify – Chassis number > Engine number > Vehicle condition
  7. Submit the required documents (originals + copies)
  8. Pay registration fees and road tax

Once everything is approved:

  • You’ll receive a smart card RC by post
  • A temporary slip may be given to use in the meantime

Documents required at all Goa RTO

These are the documents required at RTO Goa for any vehicle registration services:

  • New Vehicle Registration:
  1. Completed Form 20

How to renew driving licence in Goa online?

You can renew it through the Sarathi Parivahan portal.

  • Visit the portal and select “Goa”
  • Choose “Services on Driving Licence”
  • Enter DL number and DOB
  • Select “Renewal” and fill Form 9

How do I apply for a duplicate RC in Goa?

If your RC is lost or damaged:

  • File an FIR (if lost/stolen)
  • Go to Parivahan portal
  • Select “Duplicate RC” under vehicle services
  • Upload Form 26, FIR, PUC, insurance, ID/address proof, and PAN
  • Pay fees and submit pencil print of chassis/engine
  • RTO may ask for in-person verification
  • Duplicate RC will be sent to your address
