Original RC is required for RC transfer in Chennai. Digilocker RC is not valid for vehicle ownership transfer. If you have lost original RC , then you should apply for duplicate RC first.

A vehicle in India can be transferred any number of times, as long as each ownership transfer is properly done at the Regional Transport Office (RTO). As per motor vehicle act, there is no legal limit to how many times a vehicle can change hands.

As per Motor Vehicles Act, a vehicle RC transfer within the same state must be reported to the RTO within 14 days of the sale.
