It needs to visit the VFS visa application center on the appointed date. Thus, I am going to explain the steps for booking an appointment for Swiss visa for Indians.

Types of Switzerland Visas for Indian

There are four types of Switzerland visas for Indians. They are as follows:

1. Schengen Visa – Schengen visa allows Indians to stay in Switzerland for 90 days within a 180-day period. You can apply for this visa for tourism, family visits, business activities, short-term courses and cultural or sports events. This Visa is also called Type C Visa.
2. National Visa – National Visa allows Indians to stay for over 90 days within a 180-day period. You can apply for this visa for marriage, long term educational course, family visits and so on. This visa is also called Type D Visa.
3. Airport Transit Visa – Indians do not need Airport Transit Visa to transit from Switzerland or stay at Swiss airports.
4. Work/Labour Permit – A competent cantonal authority in Switzerland approves the work permit to allow foreigner workers to work in Switzerland.

•  According to Switzerland’s Online Visa system, Indians need a Switzerland visa to enter the country. Indians cannot avail the online portal to submit visa applications.
• Indians can apply for National visa through the concerned Swiss representation or The Embassy of Switzerland at New Delhi. No enquires or status of visa applications is entertained by any means.
• Indians can apply for Schengen visa from an external service provider (Representation responsible). The external service provider is VFS Global. All visa applications except National and urgent applications are submitted to the Embassy of the Switzerland, New Delhi via VFS Global. You can get to know about the status and processing time of your visa application by mail or call to the VFS Global.
• All the visa applications from all states of India submitted at the VFS Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Kolkata, Cochin, Mumbai, Puducherry, Chennai and Pune will be submitted to the Embassy in New Delhi on the 2nd or 3rd working day.

• Indians who hold Diplomatic Indian Passport are exempt from visa. They can travel and stay in Switzerland for their official duties for 90 days within a 180-day period.
• VFS Global is the official partner of the Switzerland and you need to pay service fees for booking an appointment. You can avail and choose the premium services while booking an appointment like lounge or benefits at the VFS Global website.

How to book Swiss Visa Appointment ?

Follow the steps to book an VFS Swiss visa appointment for Schengen Visa in India:

1. Go to Welcome to VFS Global | vfsglobal
2. Select your desired language from the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
3. Click on “Book Now” under Book an appointment tab.
4. Register yourself as a new applicant.
5. Enter all the details and click on the check-box to agree to the terms and conditions. Click on “Register”.
6. You will receive an activation link in your mailbox. Click on “Activate Account”. The link is only valid for 2 days.
7. Login in with your password and email address. Click on “Sign in”.
8. Click on “Start New Booking” after you log into your account.
9. Choose or enter your application centre location, appointment category and sub-category.
10. Choose your nearest VFS VAC under “Choose your Visa application centre” heading.
11. You can choose to submit your visa application at Embassy or Consulates of Switzerland or any of the VACs.
12. Choose your desired date and time for the Swiss Visa appointment and click on “Continue”.
13. Provide all your personal details and click on “Save”. Validate your details also.
14. You need to book individual appointments for all members who are applying for a visa. In case of 4 members in a family, you need to book four appointments. In that case, just click on “Add another applicant” and fill in his/her details simultaneously.
15. The service fees and the visa fees will be displayed distinctively at the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Click on “Continue”.
16. Choose your preferred date and time for your appointment. Click on “Continue”.
17. You can choose your preferred additional services at extra cost. Add your desired services and click on “Continue”.
18. Review your application and accept the terms and conditions.
19. Click on “Pay Online” and you will be redirected to the Payment Disclaimer webpage. Click on “Continue”.
20. A secure gateway for payment appears. Enter your payment details and pay for the appointment.
21. You receive an appointment confirmation letter in your mailbox.
22. Print it out and carry it with other documents at your scheduled appointment date and time.

Reschedule Schengen visa appointment Switzerland

You can reschedule your appointment 2 working days before your scheduled appointment. You can cancel your appointment 3 working days before your appointment. You can reschedule it twice only, and the third attempt will be considered a fresh appointment. Furthermore, you can reschedule or cancel by logging in to your account with your email and password.

Switzerland National Visa Appointment

• You can book an appointment offline at the Embassy of Switzerland by contacting them by mail or call.
• Need to contact the Embassy only for National Visa appointment for any state in India. You cannot submit your application at any Consulates of Switzerland in India.
• Carry all your documents, the filled-up visa application form, the visa fees after you schedule an online over call or mail.
