Documents required for passport application online

You will need these 3 documents:

1. Address Proof documents for new passport application:

2. Date of Birth Proof for an adult fresh passport application:

You can submit any one of the document as the date of birth proof for fresh passport application:

Note:

For individuals born on or after October 1, 2023

• A birth certificate is now the mandatory document for proof of date of birth. It must be issued by the Municipal Corporation, Registrar of Births and Deaths, or another authorized body.

For individuals born before October 1, 2023

A birth certificate is not mandatory. You can submit alternative documents as proof of date of birth, such as:

• Birth Certificate
• School Certificate
• PAN Card
• Government Employee Documents:
  • Service Record (for current employees), or
  • Pension Order (for retired employees), certified by the department.

• Driving Licence
• Voter ID
• LIC Policy Document

Documents required for new passport for minor

When applying for passport for a minor (under 18 years), you’ll need –

1. Current Parent’s address proof
2. Date of birth proof
3. Declaration form confirming the minor’s details provided in the application (Annexure D)

You can also attach the parent’s passport copy as additional verification.

Acceptable parent address proofs are – Water Bill, Electricity Bill, Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Rental Agreement, or Parent’s Passport Copy (first and last page)

Note: 

For minors born on or after October 1, 2023, birth certificate is mandatory and must be issued by a government authority.

• You have to carry your parent’s passport copy to the passport seva Kendra (PSK)
• Parents can attach the applicant document for the minor passport application process.

Documents needed for Tatkal Passport

When you are applying for Tatkal Passport, you need to provide specific documents for verification. Here is the list of documents you will required for Tatkal passport –

FAQs

Is Aadhaar card enough for a passport?

No, Aadhaar card is not enough for new passport application. Although aadhar card serve as proof of both identity and address. But along with aadhar card, you will need to provide other supporting documents required for passport as well.

Is birth certificate mandatory for a passport?

Yes, birth certificate is now mandatory for anyone born on or after October 1, 2023. For individuals born before October 1, 2023
