When do you need car fitness renewal

As per Motor Vehicles Act, you must apply for car fitness renewal in following situations:

For Private Vehicles

• If your vehicle has completed 15 years from date of registration.
• After RC renewal, you must renew fitness certificate every 5 years.

For Commercial Vehicles

• Fitness certificate is valid for 2 years from date of registration.
• After that, you must renew it every year.

• Valid Pollution under control certificate (PUC)
• Original R.C. Book*
• Fitness certificate*
• Proof for the payment of up-to-date road tax paid*
• Copy of valid Insurance certificate*

• Take your car to RTO on scheduled date for inspection by RTO inspector.
• Pay required fees at RTO counter.
• After vehicle inspection and document verification, RTO will issue renewed Registration Certificate

• Keep your vehicle in good condition.
• Repair dents and scratches if needed. You can consider denting and painting.
• Get engine tuned properly so that car can pass pollution test.
• Get vehicle serviced before inspection.
• Make sure all electrical parts are working properly. This includes headlights, backlights, indicators, horn, and sensors.
• Check that vehicle is running smoothly.
• There should be no issue with pickup. Engine and suspension should not make extra noise.
