RTO Mumbai RTO Thane, RTO Vashi, RTO Kalyan, RTO Vasai, and RTO Panvel all comes under Transport department of Maharashtra. In their respective areas, RTO Mumbai, RTO Thane, RTO Vashi, RTO Kalyan, RTO Vasai, and RTO Panvel are responsible for traffic regulations, road tax collection, the issuance of driving licences, vehicle registration, and other associated works such as transfer of ownership of vehicle, HP addition/termination of vehicle , NOC for vehicle, and so on. There are 9 RTO offices in Mumbai and its surrounding area to manage administrative works: RTO Mumbai Central – MH01 (Tardeo RTO office), RTO Mumbai West – MH02 (Andheri RTO office), RTO Mumbai East – MH03 (Wadala RTO office), Thane RTO office – MH04, Borivali RTO office – MH47, Vashi RTO office – MH43, Vasai RTO office – MH48, Kalyan RTO office – MH05, Panvel RTO office – MH46.
RTO performs different tasks or activities required to ensure safe and appropriate transport on the road. RTO Mumbai is primarily responsible for the enforcement of the rules and regulations in road transport in the Mumbai region.You can visit any of the RTO offices in Mumbai located near your area and proceed with the work.

I am selling my car which is registered in Tardeo RTO to one of my relative . The loan on the car is continuing . Will I have to close the loan first ?/p>
A vehicle can not be sold on which loan is running . Its mandatory to close the loan first . then only transfer of ownership of vehicle can be done.
My bike is registered in Thane RTO . Right now I am in Bangalore . How will I get my RC back after hypothecation removal from RTO ?
In Mumbai RC is being delivered by post to the address mentioned on the RC book . Though visit of registered owner to the RTO is not mandatory for hypothecation removal process, it should be ensured that someone should be able to receive your RC at the registered address after work completion.
Can I change the address in my Driving Licence while applying for renewal?
Yes, you can apply for change of address when you submit the application for renewal of driving licence renewal. Note that you must choose the RTO accordingly if you wish to change the address. You also need to pay additional fees for the change of address in driving licence.
How many days will it take to get driving licence in Mumbai?
It takes approx. 1 week time in getting learning licence in Mumbai. 30 days from the date of issue of learning licence, one can apply for permanent licence. Once your permanent test is done, you will get licence in 1 week time. So, new driving licence is approx. 45 days process in Mumbai.
My learning licence was issued from Kanpur 2 months back. Now I am in Mumbai.. Can I apply for permanent licence from Mumbai ?
No. You can apply for permanent licence only from the RTO which has issued learning licence. So, you need to apply for permanent licence from Kanpur only. If its not feasible for you to go to Kanpur for permanent licence, then its advisable to start process again in the current city. It means that you will have to again apply for learning licence , then after for permanent licence.
What is the validity of LL in Mumbai?
The validity of LL in Mumbai is of 6 month from the date of issue of learning licence. One can apply for permanent licence after 30 days from the issue date. If validity of LL expires, there is provision for renewal of it.
Can I sell a bike without RC ?
You can sell bike without RC. However, to transfer bike ownership you need to apply for duplicate RC and bike ownership transfer together in the RTO.
