Q1. Will my Aadhar Card number change after updating demographic and biometric details?

No, your Aadhar card number will remain the same after updating your demographic and biometric details. The Aadhar number you receive after enrolling is valid for life. 

Q2. What services can you avail in the mAadhaar app when your mobile number is not linked to your Aadhar number?

Aadhar holders can avail only a few of the services on mAadhar app such as “Order Aadhaar reprint”; “Locate Enrolment Center”; “Verify Aadhaar,"  “Scan QR Code,” and so on provided that their aadhaar number is not linked with their mobile number.  

Q3. How can NRIs enroll for an Aadhar card?

NRIs who have a valid Indian passport can enroll for an Aadhaar card. They have to fill out an Aadhaar enrollment form.

In this way, he/she also gives a signed declaration to this effect. Thereafter, NRIs also have to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra with one valid proof of identity and one proof of address to enroll for an Aadhaar card. 

Q4. What are the precautions to be taken during Aadhaar enrollment to avoid any rejection?

When an applicant visits the ASK for enrollment, they must:

  • Make sure that the authentic and error free details are entered in UIDAI’s website in English as well as in local language by looking at the resident screen available in front of them. 
  • Make sure that their details like Name, Gender, DOB, Address, etc are entered correctly. 
  • Make sure that no titles/ salutations like Mr./ Mrs./ Col./ Dr. etc. are prefixed or suffixed to the name. It is advisable to give the full name instead of initials. For example B.K Verma should be written as Brijesh Kumar Verma. 
  • Make sure that the photo captured by the operator is correct and recognizable.

Q5. What should I do if my Aadhar enrollment is rejected?

Aadhaar generation after enrollment involves many quality checks. Your Aadhar enrolment request can be rejected for technical or quality issues. Re-enroll for an Aadhar card if you have received an SMS that your Aadhaar request has been rejected.

Q6. What is Bhuvan Aadhar Portal and its uses?

Bhuvan Aadhaar Portal was launched to provide a digital platform to the Indian citizens for a unique identity for authentication anytime, anywhere across India. Apart from this, Bhuvan Aadhaar provides Aadhaar card holders a digital platform so that Indians can easily get information about the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendras (ASK) and easily complete all Aadhaar card related jobs.  Aadhaar Seva Kendra (nrsc.gov.in).  Bhuvan Aadhar is a user-friendly website as the complete Indian map is displayed on this portal, and the spots on this map will show you all the ASKs you want to visit. The other benefits of using Bhuvan Aadhar Portal are:

  • Road Guidance to Nearest ASK
  • Geographical representation of ASK near you.
  • Distance Estimate from your home to your nearest ASK. 

Q7. Will the regeneration of VID lead to a new VID?

Aadhaar number holders can request a new VID after 1 calendar day of generating the old one. The generation of new VID leads to the previous VID to be deactivated. In case you opt for retrieval of VID, the last active VID will be SMSed to the Aadhaar number holder. 

Q8. How do I add my father’s / husband’s name to my address?

Relationship details like the father's or spouse’s name are part of address field under "C/o" (care of). Filling up these details is not mandatory.

Q9. Do I need to re-enroll if I don’t get my Aadhar card after enrollment?

If you receive a message that your aadhar enrolment is rejected, you should only then re-enrol for Aadhaar. Aadhar generation after enrollment may take up to 90 days. If your Aadhaar was generated from the first enrollment, then every attempt to re-enroll will be rejected. You can retrieve your Aadhaar by:

(a) Online, if you have your Aadhar-registered mobile number.

(b) Visiting a Permanent enrolment centre/ASK

(c) By dialling 1947

Q10. What is the Aadhar SMS Service?

UIDAI introduced “Aadhaar Services on SMS” for those Aadhaar Number holders, who do not have access to Internet/UIDAI portal/m-Aadhaar app etc. to use various Aadhaar services like Virtual ID generation/retrieval, Aadhaar lock/unlock and so on through SMS. You can message 1947 to avail “Aadhar Services on SMS”.
