Duplicate Aadhar card

If you have misplaced or lost Aadhar card, you can download as well as order a new copy of your Duplicate Aadhar card. How to order a duplicate aadhar card?

Follow the steps below to order a hard copy of duplicate aadhar PVC card: -

1. Visit  (uidai.gov.in)
2. Click on “Order Aadhar PVC card”.
3. Type in your 12-digit aadhar card number/28-digit Enrolment number and the Captcha code.
4. If your mobile number is linked with your aadhar card, click on “Send OTP”. You will receive an OTP on your number registered with aadhar card. If you don’t have your number linked with your aadhar card, just click on the “My mobile number is not registered” box. Enter the mobile number where you want to receive your OTP. 
5. You can view your aadhar card details if your mobile number is linked with your aadhar card.
6. Complete the payment and then download the payment slip. 

How to download a duplicate e-Aadhar card?

If you require an aadhar card immediately, you can download an e-Aadhar card. E-aadhar is valid and accepted by all institutions in India. E-Aadhar card can be downloaded within 2 mins if you have an Internet connection and have remembered your Aadhar card number. E-aadhar is the short form for electronic aadhar, which is password protected and digitally signed by UIDAI. Follow the steps below to download masked e-Aadhar from UIDAI’s website: -

1. Visit  (uidai.gov.in)
2. Click on the “Download Aadhar” option.
3. Enter your registered mobile number with aadhar and your aadhar number. You can also download the masked aadhar with your 28-digit enrolment number along with your full name and pin code or the 16-digit VIRTUAL ID.
4. Enter the Captcha also. Then, Click on “Send OTP”. 
5. After clicking on “Send OTP”, you will get an option of “Do you want masked aadhar?” Just click on the checkbox. 
6. Enter the OTP you received on your mobile number. Then, click on “Verify and Download”.
7. Your masked e-aadhar will be downloaded in pdf format.

P.S: The password required to open a masked e-aadhar is the combination of the first 4 letters of the name in CAPITAL and the year of birth (YYYY).

For Example:

Name: SHREYA CHATTERJEE

Year of Birth: 1996

Password: SHRE1996

You can also download your e-aadhar card in Digilocker.

1. Download the Digilocker appDigiLocker:  or website. 
2. Create an account by clicking “Sign up”. Enter all the details and click on “Submit”. The mobile number you entered while creating an account/your aadhar number is your username.
3. You will receive an OTP. Submit the OTP to log in.
4.  In the “Documents you might need” section, select the Aadhar card option.
5. Enter your aadhar card details and click on “Download” 
6. You will find your aadhar card in pdf format in “Issued Documents”.

How do I check the status of a duplicate Aadhar card application?

You can check the status of your already-ordered aadhar PVC card at (uidai.gov.in).

Just enter your SRN number and the Captcha code. Thereafter, click on “Submit”. SRN number is the unique number generated by the UIDAI website after you have placed your order for an aadhar PVC card. Please note the number after you have ordered your PVC card. 

Duplicate Aadhar card fees

Aadhar PVC card online application costs Rs. 50. These charges are inclusive of GST and Indian Speed post charges. You can pay it online by UPI, Debit or Credit Card or Net banking. You can however download the aadhar card from Digilocker, the UIDAI’s website, mAadhar app free of cost. 

Processing time for duplicate Aadhar card

A duplicate Aadhar card will be delivered to your home address by the Indian Speed Post in 5 days, excluding the date you ordered the PVC card. You can track the status of your delivery at Track Consignment (indiapost.gov.in).
