You need three types of documents to apply online for a new PAN card. The following documents are accepted by NSDL/UTIITSL website to apply for a new PAN card for individuals and those individuals who belong to Hindu Undivided Families (HUF):

Certificate of Address signed by MP, MLA, Municipal Officer or any Gazetted Officer.

Domicile Certificate

Original Identity Certificate signed by MP, MLA, Municipal Officer or any Gazetted Officer.

Original Employer’s Certificate

Marriage Certificate or Affidavit

Bank Certificate with its original letterhead. The document should be attested and stamped by the issuing officer and have a photo as well as the account number of the Individual

  1. P.S.:
    1. You need one of each of the documents mentioned for POA, POI and Proof of Birth documents to apply for a PAN card.
    2. Please remember that if a minor below the age of 18 years is applying for a PAN card, any of the documents aforementioned in the list of any of the minor’s parents/guardians are acceptable as POI/POA.
    3. If you are mentioning your communication address for delivery of the new PAN as ‘Office’, you have to submit a copy of the POA for the Office address and residential address.
    4. If the Indian resides abroad then, all 3 months old bank statements of an Indian Bank or a Non-Resident External Bank are accepted as POA.

      POA and POI for Institutions that have their offices in India 


      Company

      Registration Certificate of the Company issued by Registrar of Companies.

      Partnership Firm

      Registration Certificate of the Company issued by Registrar of firms or Copy of Partnership Deed.

      Limited Liability Firm

      Registration Certificate of the Company issued by Registrar of LLPs

      Trust

      Registration Certificate/Trust Deed issued by Charity Commissioner.

      Association of Persons as in Judicial Body, Local Body or Body of Individuals.

      Registration Certificate/Agreement Copy issued by a competent body that establishes the name and address of the association.

      HUF (Hindu Undivided Family)

      An affidavit issued by Karta of the HUF which mentions the name, address, and father’s name of all coparceners.

      If you are an individual and belong to HUF, you need to submit POI, POA and Proof of DOB.

      All the Institutions mentioned in the above table can submit a copy of their Company’s Registration Certificate where the applicant resides. The certificate should be attested by “Apostille”, the Indian Embassy/Consulate in the country or authorized officials of overseas branches of Banks registered in India.
