New PAN Card Apply

When you apply for a PAN card for the first time online, the Income Tax Department (ITD) allots a PAN number to the applicant. Thereafter, Protean downloads the PAN and delivers it to your home address along with the allotment letter. Since June 2004, Protean has accepted all types of PAN card applications for the Income Tax Department via its chain of TIN facilitation centers and PAN centers all over India. NSDL is now Protean e-Gov Technologies Limited. 

Types of PAN applications

If you have never applied for a PAN card but want to now, the ITD has notified all about two forms following November 2011. There are two types of applications for PAN allotment depending on the citizenship of the person: -

1. Form 49A – Form to be filled by all Indian citizens and even those Indian citizens who stay abroad. 
2. Form 49AA – Form to be filled by foreign citizens.

Again, you can request a reprint of your PAN card if you update your PAN details or misplace your original PAN card. This process is called application for a “new PAN Card/Changes and Corrections in Pan Card”. 

How to apply for a new PAN card?

You can apply for a new PAN card offline or online.

Online New PAN card Apply:

You can apply online for new pan card using two platforms NSDL and UTIITSL. You check out the online process for application of new PAN by following articles:

Offline New PAN card Apply:

You can simply walk into any PAN centres or TIN Facilitation Centres of NSDL to apply for a new card. The centres are equipped with all facilities for all types of PAN card services. Locate a Protean-approved PAN centre/TIN Facilitation Centre at PAN Centers/ TIN Facilitation centres.  Just search by Pin code or your city to get the list of all NSDL PAN Centres near you. Visit your nearest NSDL PAN centre with copies of all three supporting documents and filled-in, photo-affixed and signed completed new PAN application. Thereafter, you have to verify your documents with e-KYC and pay the fees. You will receive an acknowledgement form after you have submitted the new PAN application. New PAN card applications are available at the Centres also. 

Offline procedure from NSDL (Protean) Website

1. You can complete the PAN card application online on the NSDL website and send it by following the steps below: -
2. Download the online application form from NSDL (Protean) website or Fill up the form online and choose your document submission as “Forward documents physically” 
3. Fill it up correctly. Sign the form and paste 2 photos on the printed form.
4. Prepare a DD in favour of “NSDL-PAN”.
5. The envelope should be superscripted as 'APPLICATION FOR PAN -- N-15 digit Acknowledgement Number'.
6. Send the envelope along with DD and attested copies of all documents to 'INCOME TAX PAN SERVICES UNIT (Managed by Protean eGov Technologies Limited) 4th Floor, Sapphire Chambers, Baner Road, Baner, Pune – 411045’.

You must enclose a copy of your Aadhar card and the envelope should reach the NSDL office in Pune within 15 days. 

These centres also accept NSDL online completed applications. Designated centres accepting Online PAN documents. 

Offline procedure for UTIITSL website

You can send the printed online completed application to a UTIITSL branch if you apply via the UTIITSL website. You can locate your nearest UTIITSL branch on UTIITSL|  Branch Locator. Just select your nearest city from the drop-down list of the “Branch Locator”. 1. Complete the online application on the UTIITSL website and pay the fees too. 
2. Download the application form by clicking on “Printout” button after you have completed your online application. Download the payment receipt/Acknowledgement form after the payment is successful. 
3. On the printed application form, paste 2 photos of 3.5 cm X 2.5 cm size at the left and right space provided for affixing photos.
4. You need to sign at 3 places: 

• On the left photo space, paste a photo of yours and sign across it.
• On the right photo space, sign the space for a signature below the photo.
• On the 2nd page of the form, sign inside the box provided for a sign at the bottom right-hand corner

      5. Collect Xerox copies of the POI, POA and Proof of Birth you had selected in the online application which you wanted to forward physically.

      6. You have to send the documents below to your nearest UTIITSL branch for processing of PAN.

• Filled-in, photo-affixed and signed completed online application downloaded from UTIITSL.
• copies of the supporting documents mentioned during the online application
• Payment Receipt/Acknowledgement form after successful payment of PAN fees on UTIITSL.
