PAN Card Update Online

The PAN card update is optional and voluntary. The PAN card update application will help you keep your PAN database and PAN details up-to-date. You can apply for PAN card update with the PAN card correction online application at NSDL and UTIITSL websites.

The documents required for the PAN card update are the same as those mentioned for a new PAN card application. You need a POI, POA, proof of birth, and PAN to submit a PAN card update application. You need to update your PAN card as a responsible Indian citizen and also avoid unnecessary hassles in future regarding old information in your PAN. 

Possible reasons for PAN card update

There are several scenarios when Indians should update their PAN cards. They are as follows: -

1. Change of surname after marriage, divorce, adoption and so on.
2. Wrong spelling of your name, father’s name
3. Updating your old photo of the twenties to a current one.
4. Address update after a change of residence or state.  

Application Procedure for PAN card update

1. You can locate the nearest NSDL-approved TIN facilitation centre or PAN centre at Search for TIN-Facilitation Centres Cum PAN Centres Near Your Location (protean-tinpan.com)/ Search PAN Centres Near Your Location (protean-tinpan.com) and do any of the following things.
2. Visit any centre with supporting documents and two photos for updating your PAN card. You can find and fill up the blank PAN update application form in the PAN centre itself. 
3. You can complete the PAN Card update application online on the NSDL website and pay the fees online before you visit the PAN centre. You can just submit the completed online PAN update application and the payment receipt to proceed with the Aadhar authentication directly. 
4. You can even download the form; fill it up and sign it manually; paste two photos before you go to the PAN centre. You can even submit it at Designated centres accepting Online PAN documents 
5. You can complete the PAN update application online on the NSDL website and prepare a DD. You can prepare the DD beforehand and choose to physically forward the application documents to the Mumbai HQ for PAN card update. The detailed offline procedure is mentioned below: -

NSDL PAN card Update

1. Visit the NSDL PAN card Update. 
2. Apply for PAN correction. 
3. Choose to physically forward the supporting documents.
4. Prepare a DD in favour of “Protean-PAN” for Mumbai.
5. Download the completed online PAN card update application and the payment receipt. 
6. You have to sign at 3 places: 
7. On the left photo space, affix your photo and sign across it.
8. Sign below the right-column photo in the space provided for sign. 
9. On the 2nd page of the form, sign at the bottom right-hand box provided for the sign.
10. The envelope should be superscripted as 'APPLICATION FOR PAN -- N-15 digit Acknowledgement Number'.
11. Paste two photos and sign after you print the completed online PAN card update application.
12. Send the envelope along with DD, filled-in online application and attested copies of all documents to 'Income Tax PAN Services Unit, Protean eGov Technologies Limited, 4th Floor, Sapphire Chambers, Baner Road, Baner, Pune - 411045'.

P.S.:

1. The application should reach the NSDL office within 15 days
2. In case of a minor applies for a PAN card update; please enclose a copy of his Aadhar card.
3. Tick-mark the boxes in the PAN update form in the left column of the appropriate row where changes are required. You need to fill up those columns also.

You can send the printed online completed application to a UTIITSL branch if you apply through the UTIITSL website. You can locate your nearest UTIITSL branch at UTIITSL| 

1. Complete the online application on the UTIITSL website and pay the fees there too. Opt for physically forwarding documents. Opt for physically forwarding documents. 
2. Download the form by clicking on the “Printout” button after you have completed your online application. Download the payment receipt after the payment is successful. 
3. You have to send the documents below to your nearest UTIITSL branch for processing of PAN.

• Filled-in, photo-affixed and signed completed online application downloaded from the UTIITSL website.
• Three copies of supporting documents mentioned during the online application. 
• Payment Receipt after successful payment of PAN fees from UTIITSL.  

P.S.:

• In case of a minor applying for a PAN card update, proof of identity of the guardian/parents of the minor is acceptable.
• Tick-mark the boxes in the PAN update form in the left column of the appropriate row where changes are required. You need to fill up those columns also.

Fees required for PAN card update 

1. Updated PAN card delivery within India if documents are delivered physically:  Rs. 110
2. Updated PAN card delivery outside India:  Rs. 910 (UTIITSL website), Rs. 1020 (NSDL website)

How to track PAN card Update Status?

1. You can track the status of your PAN with the Application Code mentioned in the acknowledgement form downloaded from UTIITSL website at UTIITSL:: Track your PAN Application.
2. You can track the status of your PAN with the Acknowledgement Number on the NSDL website Status Track search for PAN (nsdl.com).
3. You can track the application by sending an SMS to 57575. SMS format is “NSDL<space>Acknowledgment Number.”
