Aadhar link to bank account

You have to  provide a copy of Aadhar card or the original card as Proof of Identity for verification or other purposes in banks or bank websites. You can link your Aadhar number to multiple bank accounts that you own. Online or offline, you can link your bank account to your Aadhar card. You must be registered with the bank to link Aadhaar with his/her account. You won’t encounter any difficulties even if you don’t link aadhar with your bank accounts. But if it is linked , it will benefit you for many reasons, as mentioned below. Aadhar linking with bank account is also called aadhar bank seeding.

Benefits of linking bank account with Aadhar card

1. It will allow the Indian Government to transfer government benefits ,welfare funds, MNREGA wages, and scholarships directly to the user’s bank account.
2. You can open bank accounts in any bank with the aadhar being used as KYC document.
3. It will help in the direct transfer of government subsidies, such as kerosene, LPG, sugar etc.
4. Aadhaar-enabled bank accounts reduce the chances of fraudulent activities and early detection of fraudulent transactions. It also prevents government spending from leaking. 
5. The Aadhaar Enabled Payments Systems (AEPS) will allow Indians to access their bank accounts from anywhere in the country.

Application Procedures of Aadhar linking with bank account

You can link aadhar number with your bank account in the following ways:

Internet Banking/Bank’s website

1. Visit your bank’s bank’s website or Internet banking website.
2. Log in into your account by entering your customer ID and password.
3. Thereafter, select the “Update Aadhaar with Bank Accounts (CIF)” under the “My Account” section.
4. Enter your profile password to complete the Aadhaar registration procedure.
5. Then, you will be redirected to a new page where you have to enter your Aadhaar card number twice.
6. Lastly, enter all of your relevant personal details as asked. Click on “Submit”. 
7. A message will be displayed that your Aadhaar has been successfully linked with account

Bank’s app

1. Download your bank’s mobile app from Google Play or App Store.
2. After you launch the app, enter your username and password.
3. Select “Service Requests.” >Select “Link Aadhaar.”
4. Select the bank account that will you need to link with Aadhaar.
5. Type in Aadhaar number twice before you “Submit”.
6. Accept all terms and conditions before you click on “Confirm.”
7. You will get a SMS after your aadhar card is linked with account successfully.

SMS

1. SMS format: Your Aadhaar number <space>UID<space> Your Bank’s Account number to your bank’s customer service number. 
2. You will immediately receive a confirmation message informing you that your seeding request has been accepted.
3. Meanwhile, the bank will verify all of your details with UIDAI.
4. If your verification is unsuccessful, you will be notified with SMS/Email and asked to visit your nearest bank branch with your original Aadhaar card.

ATM

1. Visit your bank’s ATM near you. 
2. Swipe your ATM card; enter your ATM pin
3. Select the “Registrations” Option under “Services” menu. 
4. Then, select “Aadhar Registration.” Select the type of your bank account: Savings or Current. 
5. Type in Aadhaar number twice before you click on “Okay”.
6. You will receive a SMS after your aadhar card is linked with account successfully.

Phone call 

1. Give a missed call to the number provided by your bank if your bank has Aadhaar seeding facility available over the phone.
2. You will receive a call from your bank where you can choose options from the IVRS.
3. Enter your Aadhaar number before you confirm it
4. You will receive a SMS after your aadhar card is linked with account successfully.

At Bank Branch

1. Visit your bank’s branch with a self-attested copy of your aadhar card. 
2. Fill up the aadhar bank seeding form correctly. Please mention your bank account details and aadhar number correctly. 
3. Submit the form with the copy of aadhar.
4. You will receive a SMS after your aadhar card is linked with account successfully on your registered phone number within 24 hours.

How to check the status of aadhar link to bank aacount?

You can track the status of aadhar bank seeding in UIDAI, mAadhar app or your bank’s website or app.

UIDAI’s website

1. Visit (uidai.gov.in)
2. Enter your Aadhar Number/VID and the security code.
3. Click on “Send OTP” or “Send TOTP” as per your convenience. 
4. Enter your OTP/TOTP you received and click on “Submit”.
5. A message as the one given below will be displayed on screen.
